Religious Education

Religious Education begins at our birth and continues throughout our lives. Religious Education helps us and our children reflect upon ourselves, our world and our God.

We do this in the context of our personal life experiences, the Sacred Scriptures, and the Church and its traditions.

As a result of this reflection we are better able to come to know our God more personally and respond to our relationship with God through prayer, our participation in the Liturgy, and our daily lives.

At St Madeleine’s School we strive to present the children with a lived experience of a loving faith community. We help them to reflect upon their experiences of God, their loving parent, and also to learn from the model for living that Jesus gave us. This is the same way you are passing on your faith to your children at home.

The children are encouraged to express their insights and understandings of God through their artistic expression, their personal and shared prayer, their participation in the Liturgy, and their daily Christian living.

Religious Education is very much a shared process. This started with you and your child in the setting of the family. The teachers now continue the process with your child and share with the children the special moments when God has touched their lives. They gently help each child recognise the face of God in the “magic” moments of daily living.

Do not be surprised to find that the younger children are not taught lots of formal prayers. This comes later. Young children will be helped to speak to God in their own simple way.

Come and see learning in action at St Madeleine’s Kenthurst!

We'd love a chance to show you how learning works for young people in our school. Our dedicated teachers plan the learning in detail to help each student do their best.
